Brand: Schleich
Special Characteristics: star on forehead, very short tail, short, dark mane

Specialty: Dressage and Stamina

Description:Traditionally, the Holsteiner has been bay with a preference for no or few white markings. It is a well balanced horse, maturing between 16 and 17 hands with round, generous strides and a natural, elastic movement. A lovely head with large, kind eyes is carried on a nicely arched neck, rising upward out of its withers, producing elegance, lightness and self-carriage. Their temperament is relaxed and willing, with good character and an eagerness for work.
The quality of breeding stock is ensured through the annual Breeding Stock Inspections or Keurings. Horses are evaluated and graded according to quality and to their potential for adding to the breeding pool. For stallions, inspection prior to entry into the studbook is only the first step before becoming a fully approved stallion. The stallion is expected to demonstrate his athleticism through either a 100-day test or through sport. His offspring are also inspected for quality and genetic defects.

Rarity: common to rare-ish
Schleich Description: (from the website)
In 1812, the Knabstrupper breed began with Flaeb's mare, also known as Flaebehoppen, who was bred at Knabstrupgaard in Denmark after a series of purchases. Known for being loud in color, Knabstruppers were highly sought after in Europe. Eventually being bred with Appaloosas, this step ensured less inbreeding and success in the reestablishment of Knabstruppers. Divided into three different types, Knabstruppers are typified as Pony, Baroque, and Sport, each with their own individual strengths. All Knabstruppers are prized for their health and kind temperament.

Model Info Intro
Model Info is a series of posts i will be making about certain Schleich/Breyer or other model horses. It will feature information about the model, the actual breed, and pictures of both the model and a real horse. I will also tell you what I have named the model for myself. I won't be doing as many Breyers as Schleich, as I only have three Breyers and about fifty Schleich! Enjoy! #1 coming soon!
